Disney Productions is one of the leading entertainmentbusinesses, bringing tremendous profits not to mention thejoy it brings many people. It has not incessantly been this easyfor Disney however. It took the mind of one man to bring itto what it is today, and thats mans name is Walt Disney.Walt Disneys life was devoted to the arts andentertainment almost from birth. However, Walts fortunesand fame didnt take form until his creation of MickeyMouse.Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 and was thefourth child of Elias and Flora Disney. He was an extremely sharp child, exhibiting tremendous creativeness at such ayoung age. Walt began drawing pictures in the 1st gradeand continued until the day he died. Another of hisexceptional talents was acting. Walt relished eachluck to perform on stage or in class. While inelementary school "on Lincolns Birthday every form untilhe graduated, Walt was hauled from class to class by theprincipal to give the Gettysburg Address." (Fisher, 18)Walt got bored with school however and dropped out atthe age of 16. He immediately got a job as a waiter on atrain line and kept this job until the U.S. entered the war.Walt had a great desire to join the army, alone was rejectedbecause he was to young. Since he still desired to havesome role in the war he became a volunteer with the RedCross. at bottom a week he was sent to the front and didntreturn for one to two years. When Walt returned from hewar he told his father that he precious to become ananimator, but his father did not approve. Walt ignored hisfathers advice and enrolled in art school.Walt attended art school for several months in bothMissouri and Kansas City and then later found a job at anadvertising firm in Kansas. There he met a talented artistnamed Ubbe Iwerks. Ubbe was a great animator and heand Walt became good friends. Walt and Ubbe worked allday for the advertising company, but at night they studiedthe art of brio and experimented with ways to makeanimation smoother by using light and a camera. Walt soonquit his job at the advertising firm because he was notsatisfied with the work he was doing. He found a job inKansas City at a Film Ad Company. Walt was right awayfired from this job and having nowhere else to go, hereturned home. Walt and his brother Roy decided to form their ownbusiness available jobs did... ...found 200-acre lot inAnaheim, California and purchased it immediately.Construction was end and the park opened in 1955and by that time Disney Productions was a financialsuccess. People were so anxious to be the first ones inDisneyland that when only 15,000 tickets were sell foropening day 33,000 people showed up, half of them hadcounterfeit tickets.Certainly, Walt Disney was a man of vision. A man whohad the creativity to develop ideas and then have thepatience and attention to carry them out. Walt Disneyshowed courage and the desire you need to build asuccessful life. Even when all odds were against him, he stillwas able to find a way to conquer his dreams.
